Board Members

I have been a resident of Portsmouth for over 30 years, where my husband Gary and I raised our two daughters. Over time, I have been involved in the community in different capacities.   As a member of Middle Street Baptist Church, I have taught Sunday school, am a current deacon, share music as part of a worship team during services, and serve on various boards and committees. My professional career currently as an Assistive Technology/Activities Specialist, began in 2007 with prior roles as Coordinator of Volunteer Services and Community Relations Coordinator for Future In Sight, a nonprofit organization providing services to people who are blind and visually impaired.   . I am also affiliated with the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) of NH and the Coalition of Blind and Visually Impaired Voters in NH. I am a passionate advocate, who believes all people should live out their dreams. In 2022, I competed in Seacoast Skating with the Stars (an opportunity of a lifetime), leading by example for others with vision loss to hold onto their sense of “vision” that speaks about confidence, perseverance, thriving, and fulfillment!  “Vision” sees way beyond “sight”!

I have been in education for 35 years as a teacher and counselor. Before I retired, I loved my job because I had the privilege of listening to kids. I have always believed that giving young people the gift of new experiences and adventures helps build their individual resilience. My goal is to help awaken a sense of self-confidence they may not have discovered before coming to camp.
I hope each camper leaves with greater confidence, lasting friendships, and the belief that they are capable of more than they ever imagined.

Ernie is a retired engineering executive, having served as VP of
Engineering for numerous hi-tech companies.  In addition to his role at
Camp
ExSIGHTING Adventures, he is currently treasurer of the Bedford Lions
Club,
the Bedford Lions Charitable Foundation and the Bedford Community Food
Pantry.

I am a third year law student at Georgetown. I desire to represent abuse and neglected children, and those that have faced disability discrimination when I receive my law degree. I have a passion for ensuring that blind youth  have access to educational and independence building camps, and look forward to building such a camp in the coming years.

I serve on the Board of Camp Exsighting Adventures. My camp journey began when I was just one, and since then I’ve had the joy of experiencing camp as a camper, staff member, volunteer, and now a board member. Beyond camp, I’m passionate about theatre and have traveled to 35 different countries.

With -15 years of experience in the field of visual impairment, Maria has dedicated her career to supporting individuals who are blind or visually impaired. She spent 11 years with the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind as a Social Rehabilitation Counselor. For the past four years, she has worked as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) with Taunton Public Schools. She also serves as Secretary of the City of Taunton, MA ADA Commission. She holds a Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Vision Studies, a Certificate in Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), and is currently completing her Orientation and Mobility (O&M) certificate.

Chloe is a New England native and spent several summers as a volunteer counselor at a Christian camp in southern New Hampshire serving underprivileged and urban kids around the East Coast. She recently completed her Masters of Fine Arts in Fiction, and works in finance and administration for a government contractor in North Hampton, NH. She lives in York, Maine with her husband, visual artist Alastair Dacey. Chloe’s graduate work focused on the psychological and social ramifications of the economic depression in rural New England, reflecting her interest in advocating for underrepresented groups. She’s currently submitting her short fiction for publication, and looking forward to returning to community involvement.
Her favorite pastimes are reading and hiking in the WMNF!

Living with a congenital vision diagnosis, Andrea has a heart for the needs and success of the sight impaired population.  She is a career counselor in private practice working with  those exploring mid career changes and new job seekers. Andrea is  also a devoted mother of 3 and is a joyous grandmother.

James is a Senior Staff Attorney at Disability Rights Center-NH (DRC-NH).  He has represented clients in all levels of the court system, from administrative hearings to the NH Supreme Court, with an emphasis on employment discrimination and access to voting rights. James is a New Hampshire native who enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time with his family.
